Come explore undeveloped caves without the use of built-in electricity, walkways, or stairs. Prepare to get muddy! On this trip, cavers will crawl through tight cave entrances that open into large caverns. Every month, Peak Adventures hosts a river cleanup where volunteers hike along the American River Parkway picking up litter, debris, and removing invasive plant species from the trail’s pathways. This cleanup effort creates a much more enjoyable experience for parkway visitors, protects our river eco-systems, and improves water quality for the community. So come out and clean-up!

Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Wilderness First Aid (WFA)

Gain some good tools and knowledge to handle a wilderness first aid emergency. This class is fun with lots of hands-on skills practice. The emphasis is on making good decisions by staying calm and safe, doing a good patient assessment, and having good communication and leadership. In addition to a half day of outdoor scenario practice of first aid and leadership skills, this class focuses on practicing: patient assessment, shock and bleeding, head and spinal injuries, wounds, musculoskeletal injuries, heat and cold illnesses and much more. Successful completion of class includes a 3 year Wilderness First Aid certificate.
This class is taught by Bobbie Foster of Foster Calm. She has been teaching wilderness first aid across Northern California since 1994.
“Bobbie is a master teacher! She offers a medically up-to-date and interesting course and she keeps you on your toes with exciting practice session scenarios. I give her wilderness first aid classes the highest recommendation.”

This class is geared to serve the beginner and average rider. The curriculum includes routine maintenance, cleaning, flat repairs, brake and gear adjustments, trail repairs, and ergonomics. Special attention is given to the basics of user maintenance and simple repairs with minimal tools. You will walk away with a tune up on your bike and the knowledge to go with it. You will become a better rider by understanding your bicycle's needs and capabilities. Bring your own bike so we can advise you on its specific needs. Space is limited. Advanced Bike Maintenance

This 6-week intensive advanced bike maintenance class will teach you everything you need to know about your bike and how to work on it. This class will meet one night a week for a three hour session. Topics cover everything from wheel truing to bearing overhauls as well as shifting and braking systems. This class is tailored to the objectives of the people who enroll so that everyone gets the most out of the class. This class uses the Park Tool School curriculum, but goes into greater depth on some topics. The Peak Adventures Basic Bike Maintenance or a basic knowledge of bike parts is strongly suggested before taking this class.
While enrolled, repair class students will receive a 15% discount (includes student discount) on any parts and accessories they wish to buy through Peak Adventures. You may also choose to purchase the AK-40 Advanced Mechanic Tool Kit from Park Tool. Regularly $302 for a one-time deal of $250 with enrollment of the Advanced Bike Maintenance Class. Minimum age is 16.

Get guide school in early with our “weekend warrior” style guide school that takes place on three consecutive weekends. Based out of Coloma, CA on the South Fork of the American River, our whitewater rafting guide school is open to everyone. By the end of this fun and intense three weekends of training, you will have a clear understanding of what is needed to successfully navigate a Class III river. You and your fellow guide trainees will learn about equipment, hydrodynamics, running rapids, introduction to swift water rescue, group dynamics and local cultural and natural history. Trip includes instructors, rafting equipment, parking, shuttle between river sections and 3 nights of camping. Camping equipment is available for rent from Peak Adventures at a minimal cost. After this guide school you can apply to any rafting company that operates on the South Fork of the American River. Minimum age is 18.

This class is geared to serve the beginner and average rider. Curriculum includes routine maintenance, cleaning, flat repairs, brake and gear adjustments, trail repairs, and ergonomics. Every month, Peak Adventures hosts a river cleanup where volunteers hike along the American River Parkway picking up litter, debris, and removing invasive plant species from the trail’s pathways. This cleanup effort creates a much more enjoyable experience for parkway visitors, protects our river eco-systems, and improves water quality for the community. So come out and clean-up!

Falling more than 100’ and dissipating to fine mist before it meets the ground, Phantom Falls is a must-see waterfall! The falls are the main attraction on this hike, in spring wildflowers and giant oak trees cover the hills. Because the trail is flat with a total mileage under 5 miles, this trip is a great way to see if hiking is right for you. While this is a great novice trip, even the most experienced hikers will enjoy these picturesque waterfalls and wildflowers! Minimum age is 9.

No previous experience is necessary. Trip meets mid-morning at Camp Lotus, Coloma. Trip includes guides, shuttle, and all rafting equipment. Minimum age is 9.

Gain some good tools and knowledge to handle a wilderness first aid emergency. This class is fun with lots of hands-on skills practice. The emphasis is on making good decisions by staying calm and safe, doing a good patient assessment, and having good communication and leadership. In addition to a half day of outdoor scenario practice of first aid and leadership skills, this class focuses on practicing: patient assessment, shock and bleeding, head and spinal injuries, wounds, musculoskeletal injuries, heat and cold illnesses and much more. Successful completion of class includes a 3 year Wilderness First Aid certificate.
This class is taught by Bobbie Foster of Foster Calm. She has been teaching wilderness first aid across Northern California since 1994.

Advanced Bike Maintenance

This 6-week intensive advanced bike maintenance class will teach you everything you need to know about your bike and how to work on it. This class meets one night a week for a three-hour session. Topics cover everything from wheel truing to bearing overhauls as well as shifting and braking systems. Class objectives are tailored to the people who enroll, so everyone gets the most out of the lessons. The Park Tool School curriculum, but goes into greater depth on some topics. The Peak Adventures Basic Bike Maintenance or a basic knowledge of bike parts is strongly suggested before taking this class.
While enrolled, repair class students will receive a 15% discount (includes student discount) on any parts and accessories they wish to buy through Peak Adventures. You may also choose to purchase the AK-40 Advanced Mechanic Tool Kit from Park Tool. Regularly $302 for a one-time deal of $250 with enrollment of the Advanced Bike Maintenance Class. Minimum age is 16.

This class is geared to serve the beginner and average rider. The curriculum includes routine maintenance, cleaning, flat repairs, brake adjustments, gear adjustments, and bike fit. Special attention is given to the basics of user maintenance and simple repairs with minimal tools. Bring your own bike and walk away with a tune up and the knowledge to go with it! Space is limited, so sign up early. Total instruction time is six hours, with a break for lunch. Minimum age is 16.

Come explore this world-class river and see why this is the most commercially rafted river in California.

No previous experience is necessary. Trip meets mid-morning at Camp Lotus, Coloma. Trip includes guides, shuttle, and all rafting equipment. Minimum age is 9.

Give back, clean up, make friends, and have fun! Every month, Peak Adventures hosts a river cleanup where volunteers hike along the American River Parkway picking up litter, debris, and removing invasive plant species from the trail’s pathways. This cleanup effort creates a much more enjoyable experience for parkway visitors, protects our river eco-systems, and improves water quality for the community. So come out and clean-up!
Gloves, garbage bags, trash grabbers, and hand sanitizer provided. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
