What if I’m a novice?

That’s perfect! We specialize in adventures for beginners. Peak Adventures is the gateway to getting you started in outdoor recreation. By providing transportation, some gear, and expert guides, we’ll make you feel at home in the outdoors. When you return from your trip, we guarantee you’ll have a greater sense of confidence in outdoor adventures. And, chances are, you won’t be alone; there will be many others who are new to the experience joining you on the trip.

What if I don’t know anyone?

If you’re signing up alone, don’t worry! One of the best things about our trips is that you’ll have the chance to meet and bond with new people. Most of our trips include a pre-trip meeting, during which you’ll meet everyone else you’ll be traveling with, break the ice and get to know each other.

What is included?

Transportation to and from campus for most trips, expert guides, all technical gear and, depending on the trip, some meals. Oh, and fun. Did we mention fun?! A GREAT value!

Who leads the trip?

Your trip will be led by our experienced trip leaders! Some of our leaders are Sac State students and alums, while others are community members who also enjoy the outdoors. Each of our trip leaders have undergone 100+ hours of hands-on training with Peak Adventures, and have been certified in Wilderness First Aid, CPR, and are certified Class B drivers. They all love the outdoors, love having fun, and love working with new people every day. You can read more about them here.

What is your cancellation policy?

What is minimum age?

Minimum age is carefully determined by our expert staff to ensure our trips are appropriately rated for specific participants. Visit our minimum age page to find out more specific information.

Where do we park?

Please see the map. You must pay for parking 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. You can pay on ca.mpus at information booths.

Rafting is the perfect summer activity to beat the heat! Peak Adventures offers affordable white water rafting trips for groups or individuals. See why the South Fork of the American River is one of the country's best rivers for recreation. It's a splashing good time! **NOTICE** Water flows in the South Fork American River result from releases from hydroelectric facilities located upstream. Such water releases are not subject to the control of El Dorado County or commercial rafting companies operating under permits from the County of El Dorado.

This classic section of the South Fork offers scenic views of the canyon walls with some wet and wild fun. Start on the milder class II section then paddle through class III rapids such as Fowler's Rock, Satan's Cesspool and Hospital Bar. A typical day on the gorge is approximately 3 to 4 hours on the water. Bring your friends along for an experience you won’t forget!

No previous experience is necessary. Trip meets mid-morning at Camp Lotus, Coloma. Trip includes guides and all rafting equipment. Minimum age is 9.
