Brad Pointer
Education: Wheaton College, Chicago, Illinois
Notable outdoor trips/activities:
- Climbed many of the notable peaks in California and especially in the Tahoe Basin (including Whitney, Shasta, Cathedral, Tallac, and Pyramid).
- Started back country snow boarding this year
- Kayaked several class 3 and 4 rivers in California
- Rafted several rivers from California to Maine in the US and on the Futaleufu in Chile.
Top 3 outdoor hobbies: Downhill Mountain Biking & Road Biking, Slack Lining, Snowboarding
Favorite thing about Peak Adventures: I love the incredible variety of programming that we offer and the many different people who are positively impacted by our work. I consider it a privilege to work with our amazing collection of staff, who bring a huge wealth and variety of experience to our trips and programs.
Valerie Regner
Education: Bachelor's in Recreation Administration from Sacramento State University
Qualifications: Valerie has been with Peak Adventures since the beginning of 2002. She has over 1,000 hours of facilitation experience, 15 years of event planning experience, 15 years of summer camp experience, and a love for the outdoors.
Top 3 outdoor hobbies: Hiking, Camping, Playing!
Best outdoor experience: "Hiking with my dad."

WENDI WESTON
Education: AA in Fashion Design, BA Family and Consumer Sciences, Minor in Recreation and Leisure Studies, Credentials in Home Economics and Health Science
Qualifications: Wilderness First Aid, Infant, Child, Adult CPR/First Aid, AED, Class B Permit. Wendi has been part of Peak Adventures since 2002. She has worked with many different groups on the Peak Adventure Challenge Center along with being contracted to work at other courses in the area. She has taught over 7 years in the public school system including junior high and high school students. Wendi’s has over 15 years of youth camp leadership and training for both elementary and teenagers. Taught aspiring young artist for 3 years and currently has her own women & children accessories design business creating beautiful one of a kind fabric creations.
Best outdoor experience: I really got into hiking when I was 15 years old at Girl’s Camp for church. We went for 3 days backpacking, swimming, and whittling. It was so much fun to be out there with all my friends and learn about my strengths and weaknesses, it was empowering.
Favorite thing about Peak Adventures: Being part of Peak Adventures has provided so much growth in my professional and personal life. Each day on the Challenge Center I have the opportunity to mentor, share and learn with both my fellow “Peakies” and clients. I LOVE TO GO TO WORK!!! Without ASI’s support for Peak Adventures this would never have happened.
Madison Shepard
Education: Currently completing studies inBusiness Administration with a concentration in Accounting and a Minor in Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Administration
Qualifications: Wilderness first aid certified, class B license, certified in CPR, basic and intermediate belay training, high ropes rescue training. Attended the Association of Outdoor Recreation and Education (AORE)Conference in Boise, Idaho in 2006. I presented at the Western Regional Outdoor Leadership Conference (WROLC) in San Bernardino in 2008. Awarded “Peakie of the Year” in 2008.
Top 3 outdoor hobbies: Backpacking, Mountain biking, Rafting
Best Outdoor Experience: Rafting the Rogue River in the middle of a huge rain storm.
Favorite thing about Peak: Is the opportunities that Peak creates for people who have never had a chance to experience the outdoors.
SAMUEL HATTON
Education: Associates in Theatre - Acting from ARC, studying for a Bachelor's in Business Administration - Entrepreneurship at Sacramento State University
Qualifications: Samuel has been on staff since the Summer of 2007. He was a presenter at the Western Regional Outdoor Leadership Conference 2009. He is fascinated by human interaction concepts such as communication, trust, compassion, and leadership. Though he loves to play, socialize and entertain, he strives for strong work ethic and professionalism at Peak Adventures.
Top 3 outdoor hobbies: Camping with friends, Playing in water with friends, Running with friends
Best outdoor experience: "Hiking the Kepler Track in New Zealand with friends I met in Australia. It was nearly 42 miles in 2 days. Some of the sites were amazing! Like clouds covering the base of the mountain. And I got to sit on moss that was softer and more bouncy than my bed!"
Favorite thing about Peak Adventures: "I like the unique value that Peak Adventures offers through giving people the opportunity to experience adventures and challenges."
Jeff McVarish
Education: A.A. in Psychology & Social Sciences
Qualifications: I have a genuine belief in what Peak Adventures stands for. I am a product of the personal development that Peak facilitates. I started out as a person who did not spend much time outdoors, and now I take every opportunity to go on an adventure and learn as much as I can.
Top 3 outdoor hobbies: Snow camping, back packing, cycling
Best outdoor experience: My first time leading a trip was a night-time snow shoe hike in a blizzard and everyone still had fun.
Favorite thing about Peak Adventures: I like that I am helping people learn skills that can help them in all aspects of their lives. I like that I am opening people up to things they might have thought that they wouldn't be able to do.
Scott Jonard
Education: BA in History from CSU Sacramento
Qualifications: I spent a summer as the Aquatics Director at a summer camp for special needs youth. I was Director of Recreation ministries for Fremont Presbyterian Church for 2 1/2 years. I have been with Peak adventures since June of 2005.
Top 3 outdoor hobbies: Backpacking, Swimming, and Hiking.
Best outdoor experience: I spent a week backpacking in the Trinity Alps with my father and my pastor. It was awesome to get in the back woods and I had some amazing moments.
Favorite thing about Peak Adventures: My favorite thing about Peak Adventures is the passion that is so prevalent in the staff for what we do.
Stephen Myers
Education: MS Teaching Credential, CSUS 2006; BA Political Science, Haverford College 1999.
Qualifications:10 + years experience working with youth in outdoor adventure summer camping programs,
3 years teaching in public schools, love for the outdoors and willingness to try new things.
Experienced hiker, biker, boater, team leader.
Top 3 outdoor hobbies: Snowboarding, camping, trail biking.
Best outdoor experience: 10 day hiking/canoeing trip in Virginia and Maryland with teen group.
Favorite thing about Peak Adventures: Family feeling among the staff, high quality programs, attention to safety and enjoyment of clients.
Eric Johnson
Education: A.A. American River College
Qualifications: 7 years as a Team Lead, 5 years coaching experience, ropes course inspector and builder, ropes course consultant.
Best outdoor experience: Being part of the winning team for “24 Hours of Cool” mountain bike race 2009.
Favorite thing about Peak Adventures: Chance to work programs with many different demographics. Everything from Corporate to school programs.
